Every day, we have to find ways to get enough money just to buy food, always worrying about using up what little we have left. I lost my living situation and had to move in with my girlfriend, and without a car, I can’t get to any jobs unless my parents can help. I’ve been searching for remote work, but not having a computer makes that nearly impossible. My girlfriend used to do tattoos, but she can’t find clients anymore—many of her old clients had ill intent and don’t want anything to do with her now that she has a boyfriend. We’re basically trying to sell everything we own just to get by, and there aren’t many victories these days besides maybe selling a shirt or something small like that.

We’ve tried to get unemployment and food stamps, but both have been denied, and we can’t stay with her grandparents forever. Life has thrown a lot our way over the years and made it hard to get started, but now me and her are ready to face it together. Our goal is to get stable enough to start our lives like everyone else our age—to have a place of our own, steady work, and the chance to build a future.
