In the holy land of Vrindavan, India many children grow up without access to even the most basic education.
Five years ago, a small group of these children stepped into a humble classroom for the very first time. They could not read. Some came without having had anything to eat. That small classroom became a beacon of hope for children from the most impoverished backgrounds.
It became Bhakta Bandhav Gurukulam—a sanctuary where children receive free education, daily nourishing meals, and are gently guided in values of kindness, humility, and devotion through the teachings of Gaudiya Vaishnavism. They are also educated in arts, music, and practical skills.
Our holistic approach empowers our children to succeed in the world and become compassionate, well-rounded individuals.
We now have 150 children, ages 5-15 participating. Our children are thriving. For many of our students, this is the only stable, supportive environment they have. Over 50% are the first person to read in their family. Our school is changing the trajectory of their lives.
As the school has grown, so has the need. Our current space is now overcrowded and limited. More children are seeking admission, but we simply do not have the room or facilities to serve them properly. We are at a turning point.
To continue and expand we must build a new schoolhouse. Our immediate goal is $25,000 to begin construction.
This new space will provide:
- 12 safe, dedicated classrooms
- Science Lab and Art Room
- Assembly Hall
- Room for 350 more children to enroll
- Education up to 10th Standard
- Space for recess and play
