We are reaching out with an urgent appeal:
Dogs of Ella needs a new home.
For years, we’ve been dedicating our lives to rescuing, healing, and protecting the forgotten street dogs of Ella, Sri Lanka. Our shelter grew from a small, personal initiative into a safe haven for over 40 dogs, many of them severely injured, disabled, or chronically ill.
But now we are facing a turning point.
We must relocate and we can’t do it without your help.
Why we need to move
- We’ve outgrown our current shelter: Every corner is full. We’re constantly forced to turn away new emergency cases simply because we lack space.
- Heavy rainfall is destroying our shelter: The structures have become unstable due to continuous monsoon rains. We've only been able to repair them temporarily — but they are falling apart.
- No long-term security: We don’t own the land. We are renting, which puts us in a vulnerable position with no guarantee for the future.
- Unwelcoming surroundings: Despite our efforts, we often face rejection and complaints from the neighborhood.
- No room to grow: We dream of doing more — of building a place that can truly serve both animals and the people who care for them.
Our vision for the future
We’ve found a beautiful piece of land in a peaceful location, big enough to finally breathe, heal, and expand. With your help, we will create:
- A new, spacious and secure shelter for our dogs
- A volunteer house to accommodate the amazing people who come from around the world to help
- A small clinic in the future to offer medical care directly on site
This land will not only allow us to provide better care, but it will offer stability, safety, and dignity, something every life deserves.

To purchase the land, secure legal fees, and begin the most essential construction, we need to raise €60,000.

- Boundary fencing and basic infrastructure
- Transportation and relocation
- Building the first dog areas and the volunteer house
