We are a group of five friends affectionately known as THE FIVE-MANJARO who have joined forces with Grace Life Foundation, a social impact nonprofit working to transform healthcare access in underserved communities across Zimbabwe.
Together, we've dedicated our climb up Mount Kilimanjaro Africa’s highest peak to raising funds for the construction of an additional maternity ward at Concession District Hospital. Concession District Hospital serves thousands across Zimbabwe’s Mashonaland Central province. But its maternity ward is under immense pressure too few beds, not enough equipment, and rising demand. The consequences are real.
Why $29,475?
The summit of Kilimanjaro stands at 5,895 meters. There are 5 of us climbing. So we've committed to raising $29,475 (5,895 × 5) each meter we ascend symbolizing a dollar raised toward saving lives.
What the Funds Will Do :
All donations will go directly toward:
- Constructing a new maternity block adjacent to the current facility
- Purchasing essential equipment: maternity beds, fetal monitors, delivery tables
- Improving sanitation, water access, and postnatal recovery space
- Ensuring a dignified, safe space for mothers and newborns
This new ward will:
- Double current maternity capacity
- Reduce preventable deaths
- Offer a space of care, safety, and dignity for hundreds of mothers each year
