Help Us Build a Lifeline for Vulnerable Parrots

At Morndyke Parrot Sanctuary, every bird that comes through our gates has a story. Many have suffered neglect, abuse, abandonment, or the loss of the person they loved. Some arrive frightened and traumatised. Others are elderly, disabled, or have special needs that require extra care and protection.

For these parrots, our sanctuary is more than just a home — it is often their last chance at safety, comfort and companionship.

Today, we urgently need your help.

Our sanctuary is full.

We are receiving requests to take in birds that desperately need somewhere safe to go, but we have reached the heartbreaking point where we simply do not have the space. Every time we have to turn away a bird in need, it weighs heavily on us.

To continue our work, we must build an extension to our existing aviary facilities. This new annexe will allow us to safely house our most vulnerable residents — disabled, elderly and special-needs birds who cannot always live comfortably amongst the larger flock.

Creating this dedicated space will not only improve the welfare of these precious birds, but it will also free up room within the main aviary, enabling us to rescue and care for more parrots in desperate need of sanctuary.

The project will cost approximately £11,000:

• Steel work – £5,000

• Concrete flooring – £2,000

• Container to convert into a dedicated parrot house – £4,000

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, the concrete blocks have already been funded, and we have secured most of the weld mesh needed for the build. Every pound donated now brings us closer to making this essential project a reality.

This is not about expansion for growth’s sake. This is about protecting the birds already in our care and ensuring we can continue saying “yes” to those who have nowhere else to go.

The current economic climate has made fundraising more difficult than ever, but the need for our work has not diminished. If anything, it has increased.
