My name is David Torres, and my family and I are building DT Empire A Family Farm in Fall River, Massachusetts. What started as a family farm has grown into something much more meaningful: a place where children, families, people with disabilities, residential programs, students, and members of our community can experience animals, agriculture, nature, and time together.

Our community is ready for more. We need help getting the farm ready for them.

We have already seen what this farm can mean to people. We have welcomed students with intellectual disabilities who came to learn how to plant, interact with our animals, and experience farm life. During one unforgettable visit, they even had the opportunity to witness a baby goat being born.

We have welcomed visitors from residential programs, including people who use wheelchairs. We’ve hosted community events where children and families have spent time outdoors, met the animals, played, learned, and simply enjoyed being together.

We’ve also received interest from a large homeschool community that would like to bring students and families to the farm for educational experiences.

These experiences have shown us both the potential of this farm and the improvements we still need to make.

We want to build a farm that more people can experience.

Right now, portions of our property are difficult for visitors with wheelchairs or limited mobility to navigate. We want to improve and level visitor areas, create better access throughout the grounds, improve our entrance, and eventually provide a way to transport visitors who cannot comfortably walk longer distances around the farm.

One of our biggest goals is to add accessible restroom facilities so that when people with disabilities, seniors, school groups, residential programs, homeschool groups, and families visit us, they have appropriate facilities available.

We also have significant farm improvements that need to be completed. We need stronger and more attractive fencing, improved paddocks, better barns and animal shelters, and safer animal enclosures. Predators are a real concern, and we are working to complete a fully enclosed and protected area for our chickens.

There are also older structures that need to be safely removed, areas that need substantial cleanup, trees and debris that need to be cleared, and portions of the property that need work before they can become safe and welcoming visitor areas.

Our goal is not to make the farm fancy. Our goal is to make it safer, cleaner, more accessible, and more welcoming.

Funds raised will help us work toward:

• Accessible restroom facilities

• Improved entrances and visitor access

• Smoother, more navigable areas for wheelchairs and limited-mobility visitors

• Safer and better-looking fencing

• Improved paddocks, barns, and animal shelters

• Predator-resistant animal enclosures

• Completion of our protected chicken enclosure

• Removal of deteriorated old farm structures

• Tree, debris, and property cleanup

• Improvements to areas used for educational and community programs

• A small farm utility vehicle or similar mobility solution to help visitors who cannot comfortably walk longer distances, if funding allows

This farm is deeply personal to our family. We have put countless hours of our own labor and resources into building it. My wife and I even celebrated our wedding here on the farm, surrounded by something our family had worked to create.

But we have reached a point where determination and hard work alone aren’t enough. Materials, equipment, professional work, accessibility improvements, cleanup, construction, and infrastructure all cost money, and we simply don’t have the resources to complete everything the community needs from us.

We are raising $50,000 to help take this next step.

We understand that not everyone can make a large donation. $10, $20, $25, $50—every contribution matters. Together, many small donations can build fencing, clear land, improve an animal area, make a pathway easier to navigate, or help move us closer to accessible restroom facilities.

We want children to experience the joy of meeting an animal up close. We want families to have a safe place to spend time together outdoors. We want students to learn where food comes from and experience agriculture firsthand.
