Support the Friends of Hashawha Bear Branch to maintain our butterfly house at Bear Branch Nature Center! As the first public butterfly house in Carroll County, this FHBB project will allow visitors to the park to learn more about native plants and pollinators!
Our Story
After applying for a self-help grant through the county, Friends of Hashawha Bear Branch received funds to build the structure of the butterfly house. It will be constructed on the site of the old farmhouse across the street from Bear Branch Nature Center. After going through the permitting process and pouring a foundation, a structure was built and a garden planted. Thanks to donations from the community an ADA accessible sidewalk was installed and we hope to welcome butterflies into the structure next spring.
Next Steps
We are continuing to raise money for maintenance efforts and programming that we hope to bring to the butterfly house. Keeping up the garden and structure will require hard work from our volunteers and support from our community.
