Hi everyone.
We started the Cape Breton Comedy Festival two years ago with some pretty big dreams of bringing the best of Canadian Comedy to Cape Breton.
As a stand up comic Nick Beaton has been performing there for over 15 years, and loved it. The crowds were always some of the best he had ever performed in front of. He wanted to bring some of his colleagues that he has worked with over the years to this beautiful island, and amazing audiences.
Ash Young, a long time event promoter also saw this potential, and they teamed up.
After producing the festival for two years, the fact is, it isn't sustainable without sponsors. And boy have we tried to get them!
We have had some businesses give support, and we are so grateful for them. But we have not secured any major sponsorships, or come close to reaching our goal. We have had four major East Coast companies show interest, only to decline at the 11th hour. It's beyond frustrating.
Last year we brought in some of the best talent in Canada, including Nikki Payne, Rob Pue, Mike Wilmot, Arthur Simeon, Adrienne Fish, and Juno award winner Kyle Brownrigg.
This year we have secured two more Juno nominees, Atlantic Canada favourite, James Mullinger, and Canadian legend, Scott Thompson.
These shows are out of this world good. But without sponsors, all we have are amazing comics who want to come and perform and not enough money to fund it.
This is where you come in! We are politely asking for people to donate to help make the fest happen this year. We are putting it out to everyone on the island, and throughout the Maritimes, to give a little to help. Donations don't have to be huge, if enough people pull together we can make this happen.
We want to bring you the fest this year, and many more to come. And maybe once we start gaining some attention big businesses will throw money at us to sponsor, but for now, we need you. You can donate as an individual, or from your business. Every little bit will help.
Thank you so much for your support.
