Help Us Bring The Amulet to Life
Donation protected
Howdy! We’re a team of passionate group of student filmmakers, and we’re excited to share our latest project: The Amulet, a fantasy short film about legacy, sacrifice, and the endurance of friendship.
THE STORY
The Amulet follows a young farmhand who, after discovering a mysterious amulet deep in the ruins beyond his village, is thrust into a journey he never imagined. Guided by visions of a deity and haunted by the legacy of his late father, the protagonist must return the powerful amulet to an ancient altar in order to restore magic within his world.
Alongside his best friend, he faces mythical creatures, cursed knights, and the looming forces of a tyrannical king. As the darkness spreads, the protagonist must decide if he has the strength to finish what his father started, or if he will forge a new path forward.
OUR VISION
Inspired by the rich visual storytelling of The Lord of the Rings, The Green Knight, and 1980s high fantasy films like Legend, we aim to craft a world that feels timeless, beautiful, and emotionally present. Our visual style will be distinct in its execution of magical surrealism, making a world through the camera and production design that feels larger than life.
WHO ARE WE?
Director - Landon Shaw

Landon Shaw’s known among his peers for his unshakable commitment, big-picture thinking, and both creativity and compassion. He has spent the last few years learning every corner of the set and building the skills to lead his own project, The Amulet. With deep roots in classic fantasy and a love for emotionally rich worlds, Landon brings a clear vision to this project and is excited to show everyone what this movie can be.
Writer - Mallory Jenette

Mallory is a Senior at WCU. She has explored a wide array of roles both on and off set, but writing will always be her first love. She’s been itching to write a fantasy story since she was a kid, and is excited to build out the world of ‘The Amulet’ and the characters that inhabit it.
Director of Photography - Tyler Martin

Tyler Martin is currently a student at Western Carolina University. He has been a valued crew member on several student films and is excited to have the opportunity to shoot the story of The Amulet. He is excited to work with this team and thinks that together they will tell a beautiful story. His goal is to create world through the visuals that sticks with you, finding a place in magic that the film can call its own.
WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
While our university supports us with equipment and basic resources, we’re independently raising the funds needed to elevate the scale and quality of this ambitious fantasy world. Your support will go directly toward the following:
Meals for Cast & Crew: Keeping our hardworking team fed and taken care of during the multi-day shoot is our top priority, and where this money will go first.
Design: Creating custom props, costumes, armor, and weapons, and that bring our world to life. It will also help with transforming real-world spaces into ruins, guard towers, and mystical landscapes.
Travel & Transportation: Covering transport for cast, crew, and gear.
Festival Submission & Promotion: Sharing The Amulet with wider audiences around the world.
