We do not have the words nor the strength to explain the events last 24 hours. I know that we have a very large extended family and that all deserve to know what happened, but it is destroying us emotionally to explain to every individual what happened and so I am using this forum to share our profound grief and ask that all of you who know our daughter and us please do not ask us for details, it is too painful.
Last night (October 9th) at approximately 8:00 pm our youngest daughter Sammie Onwiler took her own life at our home in Trinity County, California.
Sammie Onwiler was born Samantha Marie Onwiler on April 21st, 2004 in Yuma, AZ where she lived with both her parents and step-parents. In August of 2020 Sammie moved to Hayfork, CA with her father and step-mother attending Hayfork High School. She was passionate about art, geology, music, and a newfound love for journalism. She and applied to Oregon Tech University to continue her studies after graduation next spring. She actively wrote for the high school journalism program and was published in the local paper. Sammie is already missed and members of both the Yuma and Hayfork communities have been hit hard by her absence. She was the most amazing person in the world ! She loved to make help laugh and smile , she was always there for you always ready to help ! She was and is a beautiful soul
