Our Mom, Our Rock, Our Everything
Our mom, Renee Lucky Wallace, passed away on November 23, 2024, after a courageous 9-year battle with blood cancer.
She was our everything—our rock, our light, and the heart of our family.
Mom raised six of us—Ameer, me, Nakyra, Nico, Kayla, and Kiera—with unshakable strength and endless love. She was also a grandmother to eight grandchildren who adored her.
Tough as nails but soft and kind in all the ways that mattered, she carried her pain quietly, never wanting anyone to see her struggle. Even when she was hurting, she was there for everyone she loved.
Her final wish was to be laid to rest in Detroit, the city where she grew up and where her heart always belonged. We’re doing everything possible to honor that wish but we need your help.
We’re raising $12,000 to:
- Bring her home to Detroit ($2,000 for transportation).
- Cover funeral, burial, and family travel costs to say our final goodbyes ($10,000).
So far, we’ve raised $1,850, and are incredibly grateful for all of the community support so far. However, the funeral is set for Monday, December 9th and we urgently need your help with the rest.
This is the hardest thing we’ve ever had to face, and we’re leaning on the kindness of our community to help us navigate this heartbreak. Every dollar brings us closer to giving Mom the beautiful farewell she deserves.
If you can’t donate, sharing this fundraiser or keeping us in your thoughts and prayers would mean the world to us.
Our mom gave us everything—her love, her wisdom, and her unwavering strength. She taught us to keep going no matter how hard life gets, and she loved her grandchildren with all her heart. It’s devastating to know they won’t have more time with her, but her love will stay with them—and all of us—forever.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us honor Mom’s final wish. Your generosity and compassion mean more than we can ever express.
With love and gratitude,
Her Children
