Help us bring Peter home to be surrounded by loved ones

Hi, my name is Lisa, and I’ve created this GoFundMe on behalf of my aunty, Marina Zakryszka.

With immense sadness, we’ve recently learned that my uncle, Peter Zakryszka, has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour.

Since loved ones first noticed a change in Peter’s usually attentive and engaged demeanour, he has been in hospital. After a series of tests, we received the devastating news: his condition is incurable and now considered palliative. His one heartfelt wish—shared by his wife, children, and loved ones—is simple: to come home.

Peter is a kind and gentle man, known for his love of woodworking, fixing things, and spending time in his garden—a place he’s worked hard to make beautiful. He has been married to Marina for over 45 years, and together they’ve raised two wonderful children and are now proud grandparents of two.

Home is where Peter feels safest. It’s where he can be surrounded by the people who love him, in familiar surroundings, and in the peace that no hospital room can provide. We want to grant him this final wish—while he still recognises his home, his family, and the life he’s built.

But bringing Peter home requires more than just love and intention. It means organising in-home nursing, support workers, and medical equipment to keep him safe, comfortable, and cared for. These costs are significant and come at a time when our family is already doing all we can, emotionally and financially.

That’s why we’re reaching out. Any contribution—no matter how small—will help bring Peter home. It will allow us to surround him with love, dignity, and peace in the time he has left.
