Hello everyone!

My name is Leah Paige Corcoran, and I am a senior Journalism major, and Theatre minor, at Indiana University Bloomington. I am truly honored to be ending my time at IU with one of theatre’s most important musicals, PARADE, by Jason Robert Brown. I have started this GoFundMe to assist my team and I in telling this story in the way it was meant to be shared - with our community.

The desire to put on Parade in what today seems to be an ultimately divided societal climate was overwhelming. We, as members of Indiana University’s Theatre and Contemporary Dance department believe in the need for unity, inclusion and peace for all, regardless of the background, identity, religion or status.

Set in Atlanta in 1913, PARADE tells the true story of Leo Frank, a Jewish factory manager accused of murdering thirteen-year-old Mary Phagan. As public outrage grows, fueled by sensationalist journalism and deep-seated prejudice, the trial becomes a reflection of a divided South. Leo's wife, Lucille, fights to prove his innocence, and together they discover an unexpected strength in their love. What follows is a searing collision of truth, prejudice, and the desperate need for justice. This musical deals with incredibly somber themes such as anti-Semitism, racism, discrimination, and injustice.

Parade is a warning of the dangers of prejudice and division. With such delicate topics, we need your support to tell this story in the way that it SHOULD be told. Boldly and truthfully. This GoFundMe will help us cover a variety of costs, including payment for our band members and individual design pieces for our costumes and set.

This production of Parade will be created and produced by students and we appreciate any amount that you are willing to donate in support of our production.

The parade is marching on, and we hope you will join us.
