Help Us Bring Our Mum home ,
Just over a year ago, our lives changed forever when our mum, Vicky, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease .
The diagnosis came completely out of the blue. Like so many families facing MND, we had no time to prepare for how quickly this devastating disease would change every aspect of our lives. In just one year, Mum has gone from living independently to needing around-the-clock care.
Before MND, Mum dedicated her life to helping others as a social worker. She spent her career supporting people through some of the most difficult times in their lives, always showing kindness, compassion, and strength. Now, she is the one who needs that same support.
We wanted to create a safe space where she could be surrounded by the people who love her most, rather than spending her days in a care home.
To make that possible, we had an extension built onto our house specifically for Mum. It was built with the hope that she would have a comfortable, accessible room where she could be close to her family. We are now facing a £7,000 contribution towards that extension, for a room she may never get the chance to live in unless we can raise the funds needed for her care.
The biggest obstacle isn't our love or willingness to care for Mum—it's the cost. She needs professional private carers to keep her safe at home, and we simply cannot afford the level of care she requires. Alongside this, we still need to make sure the house is fully safe, clean, and equipped to meet her needs so she can return home with dignity and comfort.
We're asking for your help to make this possible. Every donation, no matter how small, will go toward funding the private carers Mum needs to live safely at home. Helping cover the remaining £7,000 cost of the extension built especially for her.
Making the house safe, clean, and suitable for her complex care needs.
If you're unable to donate, we completely understand. Sharing our fundraiser with your friends, family, or community would mean just as much and could help us reach someone who can.
More than anything, we want to give Mum the chance to spend precious time where she belongs: at home, surrounded by the love of her family. Every share, every donation, and every kind word brings us one step closer to making that happen.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading our story and for any support you can give. It means more to us than words can express.
With love and gratitude,
Vicky's family ❤️
