On Monday, September 28th at 10:00 AM, our family received a phone call that changed our lives forever. We were told that our dad, Luis, 67, was in the hospital after suffering a massive stroke. Since then, our family has been facing one of the most painful moments we have ever experienced.
Luis is currently on a ventilator, and the doctors have told us that there is no hope for recovery. While we are still holding onto every moment we have with him, we are also preparing ourselves for the heartbreaking reality that our time with our dad is coming to an end.
It is difficult to put into words who Luis was because he was so much more than a father. He was the kind of person who made friends everywhere he went. Luis never met a stranger. He simply met friends he had not met yet.
He was caring, generous, loving, and always willing to help. If someone needed something, Luis wanted to find a way to help. He gave his time, his attention, his laughter, and his love freely. He was the person who would do something silly just to make someone smile. He never worried about looking foolish if it meant making someone else happy.
Luis loved people deeply, and he was never afraid to show it. He made people feel welcomed, appreciated, and loved. That is the person we want everyone to remember.
Above all, Luis loved the Lord. His faith was not something he kept to himself. He loved reading and studying the Bible, learning more about God, and talking about Jesus with anyone who would listen. His relationship with God was an important part of who he was and how he treated others.
Our dad’s life has touched so many people, and we want to honor him by giving him the farewell he deserves.
Luis was born in Venezuela, and a part of his heart will always belong there. Our hope is to be able to bring his remains home to Venezuela so that he can be laid to rest alongside his family and surrounded by the people and the place that were part of his life and his story.
We are asking for your prayers first and foremost. Please pray for Luis, for our family, and for strength, comfort, and peace as we walk through these incredibly difficult days.
We are also asking for financial support to help our family with his funeral and final expenses, including the cost of bringing Luis home to Venezuela. This is something we never expected to have to prepare for, and the financial burden has been overwhelming on top of the emotional pain we are experiencing.
If you feel led to contribute, any amount, no matter how small, will make a difference. If you are unable to donate, we completely understand. Sharing this fundraiser, praying for our family, or simply taking a moment to remember Luis means more to us than we can express.
We want Luis to be remembered for the man he was: a loving father, husband, son, brother, Christian, and friend. A man who loved people, helped people, made people laugh, and tried to make everyone around him feel loved.
Thank you for loving Luis, for praying for him, and for helping our family bring him home. We are grateful for every prayer, every kind word, every share, and every act of kindness during this incredibly difficult time.
