Help Us Bring Our Brother Moriah Home

Dear Friends,
We want to bring you all up to date on the serious challenge that Moriah is facing and the reason for this effort to help. Moriah has a strong work ethic and as an elder is busy in theocratic assignments. Sadly this health challenge is long term and going to impact the lives of the whole family. Medically he cannot travel home at this time.
As a remote translator in the Shadow Mountain Congregation Moriah had a program assignment at the first Regional Convention ever held in Tonga. Later while visiting New Zealand, Moriah was unexpectedly injured and taken to the hospital with excruciating pain in both legs. After several days of testing, he was diagnosed with exertional compartment syndrome. This is a rare and painful condition where the pressure in his legs is so bad that it is cutting off the circulation and damaging the nerves muscles. This muscle deterioration is toxic to other organs like the kidney and liver.
He has been in the hospital in Auckland for the past 9 days with no discharge date in sight. When discharged, he has a long recovery ahead of him. Currently he is unable to walk. He has lost complete function of one leg and is very limited on the other. He will need to do months of physical therapy and may need a muscle/tendon transplant and dialysis to function normally. He will need equipment like a walker and other tools for daily living. When he is cleared for travel home just his ticket will likely be $6,000.00 because of the restrictions he is under and the length of the fight.
Moriah will need extensive Physical Therapy, equipment to learn to walk and medical care to recover. As the family’s primary income earner, it goes without saying that this multilevel challenge is more than one family can care for. We are confident that our prayers and the brotherhood will help them navigate this obstacle. (2 Corinthians 8: 14)
Moriah and Bella are available by text or email, and they will see any words of encouragement posted here.
