Help Us Bring My Husband Home – Wrongfully Detained by ICE
My husband (Esteban Quiroga-Chaparro) was recently detained by ICE during what should have been a simple check-in with immigration, and our lives have completely fallen apart since. He has always done everything right, showing up to every appointment, following every rule, so this came as a complete shock to us.
We are in the middle of applying for his marriage-based green card, but that process takes 3–4 years. Unfortunately, it doesn’t help him right now while he’s being held, and this detention has turned everything upside down for our family.
We’ve spoken with several immigration lawyers, and they’ve told us that his case may qualify as a wrongful detention, meaning he’s being held without a valid reason. To challenge that, a lawyer has to file something called a habeas corpus motion, but those motions cost around $8,000 to prepare and file. On top of that, because ICE detained him, his asylum hearing was suddenly moved up, and now we need to pay around $9,000 right away just to have a lawyer represent him in time.
We simply don’t have that kind of money. We weren’t prepared for this at all, and the costs are piling up quickly. Every day he’s detained makes it harder, emotionally, mentally, and financially.
This has been one of the most painful and stressful experiences of our lives. We love each other deeply, and I’m doing everything I can to bring him home.
Any help, whether it’s a donation, sharing this page, or even just your prayers, means the world to us. All funds will go directly toward legal fees and the costs of fighting his case so we can reunite our family.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and support during this nightmare. ❤️
