Help Sweet Luci Recover from Emergency Surgery

Hi everyone,

We’re reaching out with heavy hearts on behalf of our family dog, Luci. She’s a five-year-old Labradoodle with the sweetest soul—gentle, calm, and deeply loved by everyone who meets her. Luci means the world to us, and right now, she needs your help.

On Tuesday night, we noticed something was wrong—Luci began acting strangely, and we knew something wasn’t right. We rushed her to the emergency vet just in time. She was diagnosed with GDV (Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus), also known as Bloat—a life-threatening condition that required immediate surgery.

The emergency procedure saved her life, but it came with a hefty cost. The total for her care is around $10,200. Our immediate family was able to pull together $5,700 on the spot so the surgery could begin right away.

Thanks to quick action and incredible vets, Luci made it through surgery. However, she has now developed a concerning cough that the doctors are monitoring closely, as it could lead to complications.

We’re asking for prayers first and foremost—we believe in the power of hope and community. If you’re in a position to donate, any amount will help us cover the remaining balance and bring Luci home when she’s cleared to leave the hospital.

How the Funds Will Be Used

We want to be completely transparent with how the donations will help Luci:

Emergency Surgery & Hospital Stay – $10,200 total

This includes the life-saving surgery to correct GDV (Bloat), anesthesia, overnight monitoring, IV fluids, medications, and post-op care.

Amount Already Paid – $5,400

Our family contributed this upfront to make sure Luci could get immediate care.

Remaining Balance – Approximately $4,500

We are fundraising to cover the remaining cost of her treatment, so we can bring her home once she is cleared to leave the hospital.

Additional Medical Monitoring – If Luci’s cough worsens or leads to complications (like pneumonia), any extra funds will go toward follow-up treatment and medications.

Every dollar donated will go directly to covering Luci’s medical expenses. If there are any remaining funds after all of Luci’s care is complete, we will donate them to a local animal emergency fund to help another pet in crisis.
