On 5th August, our dear friend Jai suffered a devastating bleed on the brain while in Spain.
That same day, Jai underwent a five-hour operation and was then cared for in intensive care, where he remained in a coma for 2 weeks
Since then, Jai has been slowly making progress, and his family have been holding onto every little improvement and hoping for the day he could come home to the UK.
Sadly, last Friday, Jai underwent another CT scan which revealed another bleed on his brain. He now needs to undergo another operation later this week .
Today, Jai's wife and children met with his medical team and the insurance company to discuss what happens next. The plan is that, once Jai has had his operation and is stable enough to travel, he can be repatriated back to the UK to continue his treatment at Leeds General Infirmary (LGI), where his family will be able to be by his side and help provide the care, love and support he needs.
However, because of the complexity of Jai's condition, he cannot simply travel home on a normal flight. He will need a private medical flight and a medical team to accompany him, ensuring that he can be transported safely and receive the necessary medical care throughout the journey.
Our travel insurance is helping towards the cost, but unfortunately there is still a £16,000 shortfall that needs to be found.
As a family, we have already used our savings and everything we can to support Jai through this terrible ordeal. We simply don't have the funds left to cover this additional cost themselves.
So we are asking for your help.
And if you aren't able to donate, please share this page. Sharing it with your friends, family, colleagues and wider community could help us reach someone who is able to contribute.
Jai has already been through so much. His family just want the chance to bring him home, continue his treatment in the UK and be there to support him through what will undoubtedly be a long road to recovery.
