Help Us Bring Home Baby Nath

We are doing this fundraiser to help offset the cost of recent medical bills from the testing including surgery and our upcoming uterine biopsy to test for underlying conditions that may result in miscarriage as well as our next transfer of our fourth embryo.

Hello all, for those that do not know us. My name is Melissa and my husband is Darrell. We have been together nearly 11 years, we will be married 6 years in June. And have been trying to grow our family for about 5 years.

At age 40, I was only deemed as trying to conceive by a GYN with no further conversation at an annual appointment. One year later we met a new GYN (3rd one in 2 years) for a preconception appointment. She sent Darrell for a semen analysis but did not test me in anyway because my cycles are regular. Darrell’s analysis showed that we had male factor infertility. He has low sperm count and what he has, none were normal looking. We were then referred to a reproductive urologist. He placed Darrell on Clomid to help improve his sperm count and morphology (shape). 6 months later I found a new doctor Who was willing to test me. All of my numbers looked really good and nothing to be concerned about but she did Place me on ovulation induction medication called letrozole.

After seven months of the medication, and no successful pregnancy, we had then finally been referred to a fertility clinic and begin our journey we did five intrauterine and inseminations that failed. April 2021 our RE said that it was time to move on to IVS giving us little chance of being successful on our own or with my eggs. We did two rounds of IVF with my eggs that resulted in zero embryos to transfer.

This brings us to October 2021, the reproductive endocrinologist, said it was time to consider donor conception. So we found ourselves grieving the loss of my genetics. In November 2021 we chose a donor and January 2022. She did her first retrieval for us. This gave us all the embryos. We could possibly need to have a child.

After the retrieval, we tried one cycle for transfer of an embryo and it was canceled. We did a transfer in April 2022, and that embryo did not implant. June 2022 we had our second transfer that resulted in pregnancy, and a subsequent miscarriage. November 2022 we had another transfer. That resulted in and two days after Christmas another miscarriage.

Now I am being worked up for recurrent pregnany loss. Most of this testing along with all of our IVF cycle have been paid for out of pocket because we do not have insurance coverage for fertility treatments. Using donor egg is not cheap and we took out a hefty loan of 32,000 to offset costs much more has been paid from our credit cards and savings. We have done other fundraising that helped cover our first rounds of IVF.
