Our 26-year-old daughter, Heaven, who has been diagnosed with a serious mental illness, left her home in Idaho on January 19th, 2023. On March 2nd, 2023, the court recognized Heaven's need for intervention and granted us legal guardianship. At this moment, we know Heaven is living in her car on the east coast. We are desperately trying to get her the help she needs. We have been working with the Behavioral Health Unit of the local police department to attempt to make contact with Heaven. They have been an amazing resource for us, and we are very grateful for their support.

We are raising funds to help cover costs for transportation to a psychiatric facility, inpatient psychiatric care, medications, legal and professional fees, and other costs related to Heaven's illness. Getting her back home for treatment is our top priority.

Mental Illness

Mental illnesses are among the most common health conditions in the United States. More than 50% will be diagnosed with a mental illness or disorder at some point in their lifetime. 1 in 5 Americans will experience a mental illness in a given year.

Schizophrenia is a serious mental illness that interferes with a person's ability to think clearly, manage emotions, make rational decisions and relate to their families and friends. It is an isolating illness, filled with hallucinations, and paranoid delusions. It can be a complex, long-term, and debilitating mental illness.

The exact prevalence of schizophrenia is difficult to measure, but estimates range from 0.25% to 0.64% of U.S. adults. Although schizophrenia can occur at any age, the average age of onset tends to be in the late teens to the early 20s for men, and the late 20s to early 30s for women.
