Hi, my husband, Graham Guild, aka Fester, died suddenly in the early hours of the 31st May, which has not only shocked us, but devastated me, our families and friends. We desperately need your help in getting him from South Wales back to his birthplace in Warwickshire, England,
Our savings are almost gone, we stupidly had no life insurance, and I don't have enough money coming in to pay to lay him to rest as per his wishes. He wanted a no fuss funeral, which I and his family would like to give him, but even this is more costly than we can afford. I just want to get him back to the rest of his family, so they have the opportunity to say their final goodbyes before Gra sets off to ride the sky. Once we have his ashes, we will be putting on a celebration of his life event as he requested, where friends, family, veterans and bikers can recount their memories. Any money left over that has been raised, will be given to the Wales Air Ambulance charity, as a thank you for saving his life at the side of the road in January 2022.
Graham was not just my loving, caring husband, but a wonderful father, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him. A true biker through and through, liking nothing more than riding his cruiser in any weather, his open faced helmet allowing him to feel the freedom of the world around him. Merely enjoying the sensation and not necessarily needing to feel the speed and thrill of his motorbike. Often coming home with flies in his tash or beard that had hitched a ride lol, or splattered bugs on his cheeks . He was also a proud Royal Anglian poacher army veteran.
Graham, I and the family had already been put through hell following life changing/life threatening injuries he sustained back on the 9th January 2022, when his Victory sidecar outfit collided with a Landover discovery when his unit drifted on a greasy patch of road. His right leg was severed below the knee upon impact, amongst other severe injuries he sustained to his entire right side. The vehicle has also ripped off his givvy boxes, front and rear foot plate and not much left of his right handlebar. Miraculously, despite significant blood loss and then having to bring him back several times at the side of the road, they managed to get him to Cardiff Heath hospital, where he received numerous surgery procedures over a three week period. He battled through and just shy of four months, he was finally discharged from hospital and came back to our static caravan in the Rhondda, Wales. He progressed quickly with his rehab, and at the end of March this year, he came home from his last rehab session, proudly wearing his prosthetic leg. We had barely come to terms with the knowledge that we wouldn't be successful in claiming for his injuries due to his unit drifting, which meant he not only wouldn't have the money to purchase an adapted trike or bike so he could get back on the open road, much less, to prepare for his needs further down the line. Now cruelly, just 2 months after getting his leg, with less than a week from two of his daughters birthdays, he was taken from us, despite our eldest daughter and I giving CPR to keep him alive whilst waiting for the ambulance.
Graham was an exceptional man, with a quiet demeanor and a very gooey centre. He would do anything for his loved ones and friends, a love for the natural world and shared the unspoken bond that only a serving or veteran of the armed services have. His passion in life, was his motorbikes. A hardened biker whom would ride in whatever weather all year round. Story's are abound from his rallying days, as too, his love of matt black and gaffa tape, which every hardened biker knows, fixes everything.
When our health began to deteriorate, we had to sell our family home and we moved into a small static caravan in South Wales. We found the slower pace of life and breathtaking scenery a nice distraction to our health and family issues. The only flaw was being 100+ miles away from friends and family, something which I now regret, being so far from my family and friends, with a huge weight on my shoulders wondering where on earth am I going to get the money to be able to get him back home too Warwickshire. Even just a £1 that you could donate, will mean so much to us.
