Help Us Bring Gonzalo Home – In Loving Memory of Our Dad
Donation protected
On Saturday afternoon, our father, Gonzalo, was tragically shot and killed in Colombia. Our hearts are broken, and we are still trying to make sense of this unexpected loss.
Gonzalo was a father, son, and a friend. Although our dad was deported years ago and we didn’t have as much time with him as we wanted, he never stopped trying. He still managed to contact all three of his kids—us—and he tried. He was suffering inside and still tried to be our dad. He made sure we knew he was there in the ways he could be. He carried so much pain inside, but he still showed up for us with love and effort, always trying to be our dad.
Gonzalo was a deeply spiritual man who believed in the universe and its energy. We take comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering—that he’s now at peace, reunited with our mom, his little sister, and his best friend.
We are asking for help to bring our father and all his belongings from Colombia to the united states, so we can give him the proper goodbye he deserves. The process is overwhelming, and we cannot do it alone.
Our grandmother—his mother—is suffering dearly. This is the second time she’s had to bury a child, and the emotional and physical toll on her has been devastating. She needs support in every way right now, and we’re trying our best to hold her up while navigating this loss ourselves.
If you’re able to donate, any amount would be deeply appreciated. If you’re not able to give, simply sharing this page helps more than you know. Thank you for standing with us through this difficult time.
With love,
