From Ghana to the World: Empowering Communities Through Soap
My name is Mr. Bennett, and I’m on a mission to bring you the incredible, natural handcrafted soaps of Ghana. My journey began when I first traveled to Ghana, not knowing this trip would change my life and the lives of so many others. Invited by my lifelong friend Latoya, I visited during the Year of Return, a historic initiative celebrating the African diaspora. But for me, it wasn’t about that moment—it was about visiting a friend. Ghana was an experience that left an impact.
How a Simple Bar of Soap Sparked a Movement
During my visit, I immersed myself in the culture and everyday life of Ghana. I spent time with local communities, listening to their needs and challenges. I revisited a few more times and It was during these conversations over my visits that an idea took shape—a way to blend business with purpose.
I was asked to start a soap making business because many people washed clothes by hand, relying on handmade soaps. That was completely news to me because in the United States we all use a washing machine. Inspired by the resourcefulness and skill of the locals, I decided to work with them to create a soap-making business that started out focusing only on hand washing laundry soap.
Over two years, my team and I worked tirelessly to refine a process that uses traditional techniques combined with modern innovations. Together, we developed natural soaps for laundry, the body, face, and even a special formula to combat acne, a pressing issue in Ghana.
A Dream Held Back by Limitations
Today, my team and I produce 48 bars of molded soap a day during production, using rainwater, shea butter, coconut oil, black soap, palm oil and other natural ingredients. The demand has been incredible—without any advertising, people in the community are flocking to buy our soap. However, growth has hit a wall.
The soap-making process currently takes a full month from start to finish, and we work from a small outdoor space in one of my team member’s yard’s part time. Without the right equipment and a dedicated facility, we can’t keep up with demand or expand our reach.
Right now, we use custom crafted silicone molds from a U.S. manufacture. These molds limit the amount of soap we can produce everyday and are very costly to buy more molds to still not be able to keep up with demand.
What We Need to Keep This Dream Alive
To meet the growing demand and scale this effort, I need your help. My goal is to raise $50,000 to take the next step:
• $10,000 for a soap stamping press: This will automate the molding process, significantly increasing production capacity from 48 bars a day to 1,000+ per hour.
• $15,000 for in house package production: This will allow us to use local recycled plastics to make protective packaging for our soaps in the future.
• $25,000 for a manufacturing facility: A dedicated space with a 5 year lease will allow us to hire more residents at a livable wage, create better working conditions, and set the foundation for long-term growth.
With your support, we can produce more soap, reach new markets, and empower more people in Ghana to achieve financial independence through business.
How This Benefits Ghana and Beyond
This fundraiser isn’t just about soap—it’s about creating opportunities. With every bar of soap sold, we’re providing income for local Ghanaian’s, promoting sustainable practices, and empowering communities to innovate and thrive.
Through the Ghana based nonprofit, Creating Possibilities Outreach Ghana, this initiative has already sparked hope and a vision for the future. Expanding the soap business will inspire other startups in the region, fostering a spirit of entrepreneurship and resilience.
Connecting Ghana to the U.S. Market
My goal is to bring this natural, handmade soap to the U.S. market. By connecting these two worlds, we can ensure the sustainability of the Ghanaian soap-making business while sharing its beauty and benefits with customers abroad. Every bar purchased will not only support healthy skin but also a thriving community.

Key Milestones: Help Us Meet These Critical Dates
To ensure the successful launch of our Ghanaian handmade soaps in the U.S. market by August 3, 2025, we need to hit a series of crucial deadlines. Your support will help us stay on track and make this vision a reality. Here’s how your contributions align with our timeline:
• May 15, 2025: Secure the manufacturing facility.
A dedicated workspace will allow us to scale production, hire more artisans, and create a more efficient soap-making process. This step is vital to set the foundation for growth.
• June 1, 2025: Purchase and install the soap stamping press.
This essential equipment will automate our molding process, enabling us to meet increasing demand and prepare for U.S. distribution.
• July 1, 2025: Ship 5,000 bars of soap to our U.S. warehouse.
With a 30-day lead time for shipping, this milestone ensures that our inventory arrives in time to meet demand for the launch.
• August 3, 2025: Launch in the U.S. market.
To kick off this exciting new chapter, we will air-freight an initial batch of 1,000 bars of soap to have them ready for distribution ahead of the official launch.
These dates are critical to achieving our goals, and every dollar raised brings us closer to making this timeline a reality. By helping us meet these milestones, you’re playing a direct role in supporting Ghanaian artisans and sharing their incredible work with the world.
