Help Us Bring Erik Home

Erik Spaw went missing on

May 6, 2022 while working for

the City of Cedar Rapids. The

city vehicle he was driving was

recovered from the Cedar River

on May 7 but Erik was not in it.

The passenger window of the

vehicle was found in the down

position and it is believed that

Erik escaped the vehicle to try and save himself from drowning. As we know now he did not make it.

Erik fought hard to live and we

should fight hard to find him. The Cedar Rapids Fire Department has went above and beyond and

have exhausted all their efforts to locate Erik and at this point we,

the family, feel that a search and recovery dive team is needed.

Most dive teams only ask that

their travel expenses be paid, not their actual recovery services and that’s what this fund raiser is for is to help get the recovery teams here to Cedar Rapids with their equipment. There is no guarantee that even a recovery team will be able to locate his body but we have to try. In the event Erik is found before a dive team can be recruited the money from this fundraiser will be split between the Cedar Rapids Humane Society and the

Cedar Rapids Fire Department Rescue and Recovery efforts in honor of Erik Spaw. Thank you all so much.
