Hi everyone,
My name is Johanna Melo, and I’m currently volunteering at Grace Academy, a small school in Taru, Kenya serving 203 children across 7 classrooms. The school operates under very difficult conditions:
-Many classrooms have unfinished floors.
-Some children sit on the floor for lessons.
-Teachers often don’t have chairs or desks.
-The school has no electricity, and some classrooms have no doors.
Despite these challenges, the school community is full of life, hope, and a strong desire to learn. I’ve been able to help with some student and teacher desks among other small improvements. However, one essential need still remains: WATER.
The school currently has just one 3000-liter water tank, used for drinking, cooking, cleaning, and hygiene. When water shortages happen — which is often — the school can go 5 to 10 days without water, making daily life very difficult.
The Goal
I’m raising funds to buy an additional 3000-liter water tank and cover:
-The tank: 25,000 KES
-Installation (base, taps, pipes, cement, labor): 10,000 KES
-Total: ~271 USD
I’m hoping to raise 350 USD to fully cover the costs and also get a few school supplies for the children.
Every donation, No Matter how small, will make a real difference for these kids. Thank you so much for your support and for helping make Grace Academy a safer, healthier place to learn. ❤️ THANK YOU!
With gratitude,
Johanna Melo
