Help Us Bring Christylor Home

In June of 2017, I went to Haiti for the first time. To be honest, I wasn't exactly sure how God was going to use me on that trip, but He ended up changing my life. The culture was so warm, the people were kind, compassionate, and loving. Oddly enough, the language was even easy for me to pick up. Little did I know that  God used each of the things I loved most about that incredible country to teach me something new a about Himself and also birth forth something insanely beautiful in my life. After that first trip, I went back a second time. A third time. "Maybe I will live here" was a thought that crossed my mind over and over again. I asked God to show me what He had for me there and agreed to be obedient to the task. So He showed me. On December 24, 2017 as I held the most beautiful little girl on a porch of an orphanage in Montrouis, Haiti, the Holy Spirit gently whispered to me, "This is your daughter." After much questioning with God, as so many of us participate in, I knew what He told me was the right thing. In joy I said, "Yes, God!" So the journey began, and my parents, family, friends, and loved ones were immediately supportive. I was so excited! However, there was no movement in the process, lawyers were not sure where to start, and it seemed as if God had something He was working out before the process could move forward. I waited and waited, but was extremely expectant for what was coming, even though I did not know what it was. In March of 2018, God sent me the man who would be my husband. When I met Mykal, it was so crystal clear that he would play a crucial role in the family that God was putting together. Shortly after meeting Mykal and beginning to date him with intentions of pursuing marriage, lawyers were able to locate correct paperwork and things started falling into place. In June of 2018, I became the legal guardian of our little girl while leading a church mission trip to Haiti. Shortly after, she was granted her Passport. The process was moving along smoothly until my visit to Haiti in January 2019, when the government was experiencing devastating turmoil, resulting in the US Embassy closing for several months.  That was such a difficult season for us, but in the midst of it all, so many good, grace gifts were given to us by God. Mykal and I were married in July 2019 and our daughter was able to pass her Kindergarten test in Haiti while being healthy, safe, and strong the whole time. In August of 2019, the US Embassy reopened! Praise God! He has proven Himself so faithful in every step of the way. Which brings us to September 2019, where we are pushing for our final step to be complete. At this point, we are working closely with the parents running the orphanage, the agency they are connected to, and the US Embassy to be granted an appointment in order for her to receive a VISA to come home with us.

Our hope is that God would open this door quickly and provide the appointment needed, so that Mykal and I can travel to Haiti for Christmas, and come home as a family of 3. This would be an amazing work of God, and we believe this is in His will. We plan to travel to Haiti December 20-27th and depending on the situation with her paperwork, we may extend that stay. At this time, we are planning the trip and asking God to make a way like only He can. We are asking our families, our church, our community, and those closest to us to join us in this exciting adventure. First and foremost, we cherish your prayers. Colossians 4:2, "Continue steadfastly in prayer, with expectancy in thanksgiving." We are fervently praying, knowing God has already laid out the steps necessary, so we praise Him in advance for the outcome that will bring Him the most glory. Second of all, we ask that you consider giving to this cause. No gifts are too big or too small, and every gift given will go directly to Christmas with Christylor and bringing her home. Finally, we ask that you partner with us by sharing Christylor's story and what it represents in the Kingdom of God. Adoption is a reflection of the heart of our God, and we are honored to follow Him in this. Would you consider being a part of her story?
