Help us bring Chris Gonga back home
Donation protected
Update, 1 hour ago, 15 April 19h10 from Martha Ryder...
For anyone that hasn't seen this yet. Chris has deteriorated again. I've just been given a quote of £7500 for a private medical transport company to pick him up by ambulance and take him on a flight with his brother with an doctor onboard to travel with him. An ambulance will collect him from the airport to take him straight to hospital. I've already paid £2300 for the first medical bill from my savings and Cole has covered further medical bills, medication and rent etc and all the other costs. Thank you to everyone that has donated already. Xx
Shockingly, our beloved Chris, had a Stroke, last Thursday the 3rd of April, in Tunisia, which led to widespread panic, as nobody knew until 18 hours later, during this time, he had no medical attention whatsoever.
Cole, his brother, was eventually alerted, once he was found, and as none of us could assist with French or Arabic, and we'd battled to find out where anyone had taken him, and if at all, he ended up in the hospital. Cole eventually managed to enlist the assistance of the British Embassy, to try and find Chris.
Eventually, he was found in a Private Medical Clinic, and after an MRI and CT Scan, it was found, that this was actually his 2nd Stroke, as the 1st Stroke, had gone undetected and untreated
Which is why we need to bring him home, as a matter of urgency, so we can give him proper care, close to us and amongst family.
We were lucky enough that he has a Friend he worked with in Saudi Arabia, who was coincidentally on holiday, visiting her family in Tunisia, and by some miracle she came across Chris and has been at the hospital with him everyday, explaining what's going and translating for us back here! She has paid for Chris's medication and MRI out of his own pocket too! A fantastic friend, in his time of need
Cole, has taken compassionate leave from work to go to Tunisia and collect him upon discharge from the hospital, and assess his condition, and prepare for the journey home. After which, his plan is to pack up all his belongings and book a flight back to the UK, to get him into a hospital near him. He'll need constant care, he can then be assessed for social care needs by the social care department, here in the UK, and hopefully placed in a warden controlled environment, as we don't think he'll be able to live independently anymore... We will keep you all updated, with everything and anything else Cole will do to expedite this as quickly as possible.
Which is why we have had to create this fundraiser... the family hate to ask anything of anyone, but if you could find a few pennies... any financial help would be gratefully received and put towards us getting our brother home again, We would normally not dare ask, but on this terribly urgent occasion the family is struggling to raise the funds to bring Chris home, without reaching out to you all
Everything will be accounted for, and any funds not used will be allocated to Chris's ongoing care, with regular updates, from the family
We cannot thank you enough for those that have already contributed, and without exception, thank you all for your love, kindness and bequest in advance
Much love
The Gonga Family
