My mother Cheri Hayden is innocent, and dying in prison. For the first time in seventeen years, we have a chance to get her out. Please help us bring her home for the holidays.

My mother Cheri has spent seventeen years in prison for a murder she had nothing to do with. Last week, the Louisiana Supreme Court let stand the lower court's decision that Cheri is factually innocent. On Tuesday, the district court judge in Jefferson Parish set a 250,000$ bond. He is refusing to allow us to post our property as surety, and we now need to raise 30,000 in cash to pay bail in order to bring my mother home for the holidays.

My mother Cheri is a 63 year old great-grandmother. She also has Stage IV lung cancer that has metastized to her brain. She uses an oxygen tank and a wheelchair. In 2018, her doctor gave her two years at most to live. Seven years later, she is still fighting. Our family is desperate to bring Cheri home, so we can finally give her the love and care she deserves at the end of her life. All I want is for my children to build memories with her outside of prison walls and for her to live out the rest of her days surrounded by her family that love and miss her so much!

I am not a lawyer but the court decision that reversed my mother’s wrongful conviction says over and over again that “Ms. Hayden is factually innocent of the crime for which she stands convicted” and that “Ms. Hayden has met her burden of proving by clear and convincing evidence that no rational juror would have found her guilty.” My mother’s lawyers at Innocence & Justice Lousiana investigated this case and presented evidence that another woman committed this crime.
