Michael Needs Us—Help Fund His Custody Battle

We are deeply grateful for your compassion and generosity. Thanks to your support, we were able to honor Auntie Beth and Melissa with a beautiful memorial and lay them to rest with dignity and love.

As we continue to navigate this difficult time, we humbly ask for your continued support toward the legal expenses needed to secure custody for young Michael. Your kindness means more than words can express.

On Sunday, September 7, 2025, Melissa Cui Domingo, 41, and her mother, Elizabeth Cui Domingo, 79, were both fatally shot in what authorities have described as a domestic-related double homicide. The incident occurred during a custody exchange involving Melissa’s five-year-old son, Michael. Sadly, Michael witnessed the tragedy but was physically unharmed and is now under the care of the Department of Family and Children Services. No words can possibly express the pain of losing a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister in such a sudden and violent manner. The sadness and concern over Michael’s wellbeing weighs heavily on everyone.

On behalf of our beloved Auntie Beth and cousin Melissa Domingo’s grieving family, I have been asked by Anthony (Tony) and David Domingo, Auntie Beth’s sons and Melissa’s brothers, to establish this GoFundMe campaign. For years prior to this tragedy, Tony was helping Melissa with considerable legal expenses related to her battle to successfully prove her innocence in a previous DV incident, as well as her legal path to gain custody of the son she so adored. Tony and David are now not only grieving, but also now bear the expense of planning and paying for not one, but two funerals; expenses related to moving Melissa’s possessions from her home; and any expenses that arise for Michael’s care. Despite efforts to save on costs, the expense of laying Auntie Beth and Melissa to rest with love and dignity have proven to be staggering-- $18,900 in funeral home charges and $24,000 in cemetery expenses, not including the cost of caskets. Tony and David are simply overwhelmed. It is our hope that everyone who reads this will find a way to support this campaign by donating and sharing this link with others before the end of the month. All contributions to this GoFundMe account—regardless of the amount—will be transferred directly to Tony Domingo via bank transfer to ensure he is able to pay for the funeral expenses by September 30th.

To those of you who have already donated, thank you. Your prayers, generosity, and kindness mean more than words can express.

We would also like to express our deep gratitude to Southwest Airlines, who generously covered the cost of transporting Auntie Beth and Melissa back home to Maryland. Their compassion lifted a tremendous burden from the family during this painful time, and we are truly thankful for their kindness. ✈️

Melissa was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Our beloved Auntie Beth was a devoted mother, loving grandmother, cherished sister and aunt, and a loyal friend to many. She was a constant and comforting presence in all our lives. Her memory—along with Melissa’s—will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved them.

Thank you for the outpouring of love, prayers, generosity, and for standing with us during this heartbreaking time.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Arlene Fernandez and Friends and Family of Elizabeth and Melissa
