The connection:

It’s rare that a kindred spirit -someone who shares your beliefs, ideals and philosophies -walks into your life and makes an almost immediate, positive impact. Enter Sete a charismatic Fijian with a deep love for his land, his ocean, and his people.

Sete is a passionate environmentalist, a natural leader, and a radiant soul who gives selflessly to everyone around him. We bonded instantly—through snorkeling, spearfishing, meaningfully conversations, and shared values around family, connection, and sustainability. Early on referring to one another as brothers from a different mother.

One unforgettable day, Sete took me to visit his family’s magical land: a one-kilometer stretch of white sand beach called Nukubalavu ("Long Beach"), nestled at the start of Natewa Bay, the longest bay in the South Pacific.

This place is a rare sanctuary—coconut palms, lush vibrant green hills, thriving coral reefs, vibrant mangroves, and the peaceful sounds of nature embraced by headlands either side giving shelter and privacy. And yet, it’s just 10 minutes by boat from civilisation.

Sete has been taking the guests from our house the last couple of months to the island which has been the highlight of their trip. He and his family have recently built a waiting Bure at the boat ramp and acquired their own fibreglass boat. To also help raise funds Sete has also started micro businesses including a BBQ in town that he gathered friends together for fund raising.

The vision:

Sete wants to welcome visitors to experience the magic of this place without harming it, and in doing so:
* Create sustainable income for his family, friends and community.
* Preserve the environment and marine ecosystems, and
* Share the Fijian way of life—one rooted in connection, simplicity, and joy.

What’s already in place:

* An amazing pristine off the grid location with one of the best beaches in the area.
* Extensive coconut plantations with coconut dryer already in place
* Coconut husks and seaweed composting for organic gardening,
* Fish and seafood from nearby reefs (harvested sustainably),
* Timber to build eco-friendly bures (bungalows),
* A vibrant welcoming family ready to host and protect this paradise.

This is not about big development or a luxury resorts. It’s about living lightly on the earth in a sustainable fashion and allowing others to experience that too.

How you can help:

We’re raising money to support the initial infrastructure and essentials:
* Composting toilets & water collection
* Solar lighting and basic kitchen facilities
* Building simple, off-grid bungalows/bures out of natural materials.
* Garden and food systems setup including animals ( chicken, pigs, goats for alternate food supply, manure for organic vegetables, keeping grass and weeds cut without use of brush cutters.
* Support from local trades and materials for project.
All funds will go directly to Sete and his family to build, grow, and protect this special place, while ensuring it stays in Fijian hands for generations.

Why it matters:

In a world moving too fast, this special island paradise is a place to slow down, reconnect, and remember what truly matters. This is your chance to help protect a sacred piece of Fiji while empowering local communities to thrive.

Be part of the story:

Whether you give $10 or $1,000, your support brings us one step closer to making this dream a reality. Together, we can build something beautiful—rooted in respect, love, and sustainability. We are also aiming to document the evolution of the project with filming in a documentary format, with a connection to ocean theme.

“Veiwekani” (the name of our house) in Fijian means relationship and connection—with each other, with the land, with the ocean, and with spirit. This is what this project is all about. How everything and everyone are interconnected. We are excited to see this come together and flourish.

We are keen to raise some capital and then also apply for some upcoming farming and sustainable tourism grants

Vinaka vakalevu (thank you very much) from all of us Let’s do this—together.
