Help us become one of the UKs youngest DofeGold participants

Hello,

Despite being previously prohibited from taking part in the Gold Duke of Edinburgh award due to our age and our upcoming GCSE’s in Year 11, we have negotiated and compromised with our Headteacher, Senior members of staff and our Dofe Leader, and we are now set to be completing the award in 2025.

However, we need your help! The Gold Duke of Edinburgh award consists of a practice and assessed expedition, along with a 5-day residential which is in Wales. Naturally, due to the difficulty and complexity of the award, there has only been a record number of 1,253 participants per year, which means that there are a limited amount of suitable sites across the country for Gold. Unfortunately for us, these locations are: Dartmoor National Park, the Peak District and Wales, which are notably very far!

All together for the four of us (Lucy, Amelia, Amy and Olivia), completing the award will cost £4000, due to travel, kit hire and expedition costs. Within our households we are able to cover half of the total sum, however, for the remaining £2000 pounds we will be fundraising within our school and appealing online for donations.

Accomplishing Dofe Gold would be a huge achievement for all of us, especially at such a young age where schools do not typically allow you to participate when you are Year 11, as there are age restrictions and a busy schedule of exams, but this has not stopped us. We are determined to complete the award, and we have luckily been able to find a way to go on expedition as soon as we are 16, (summer 2025) yet the only thing stopping us is money- this is where your donations can help! Not only will you be funding our experience, but you will also be enabling us to be able to go to Buckingham Palace for the award ceremony, and help us gain precious memories and a prestigious award that will be able to go towards our CV’s and university applications.

To conclude, we are a group of ambitious and adventurous young ladies, who aspire to complete our Gold Duke of Edinburgh award, but we need your help. Any donations would be extremely appreciated and they will go a long way to help us.
