Help Calypso and Natalia Become Mamas (Finally)

Okay. Deep breath.

This GoFundMe has been a long time coming. Our friends have been gently (and not so gently) nudging us to set this up for over a year now, saying they want to support us, that others will want to too. And… well… they’re probably right.

But truthfully? We (read: Calypso, lol) have been way too proud to open the door and say: we need help.

And now, things have gotten a bit wild. The pressure’s on. The bills are stacking up. And it's time. So here we are... finally opening up about this journey and letting people in.

We’ve been on the path to becoming parents for over a year now. From the very start, we knew we wanted to do things as consciously and heart-led as we could. That meant choosing a known donor- someone our future children can know, ask questions of, and hopefully build a relationship with as they grow.

We sat with the question: If we were donor-conceived, would we want to know our donor?

And the answer was a clear, full-body yes.

We found an incredible agency in the US called The Seed Scout, who specialise in matching people with aligned known donors. Working with them came with a cost, but one we felt was worth every penny. But doing this properly also meant making peace with the fact that we’d have to travel overseas for treatment, as UK regulations around known donor sperm are tight (aka basically impossible for our situation).

We’ve now spent months in conversations, contracts, logistics, legalities and the bills are rolling in. We haven’t even started actual fertility treatment yet, and we’re already looking at nearly £15,000 in costs- with at least another £15,000 (minimum) again to come.

But here’s the beautiful part: we’ve met our donor. He’s incredible. He already feels like family. We know, deep in our bones, that we’ve made the right decision to pursue this path.

Now, we just need to financially climb the next mountain: making IVF treatment itself possible.

We always thought we’d manage it all ourselves. We still carry some of that stubborn belief (old habits die hard). But this isn’t just about money. It’s about cracking open the door to support, community, and trust.

So, we’re here, sharing the truth of our journey- as queer women choosing to bring a child into the world as intentionally, lovingly, and transparently as we can.
