Help us be a Legacy for Gresham

Legacy Coffee People, we are so thankful for your presence in our lives and helping us make this dream a reality. We are asking for your help to keep this dream alive.

Since we opened our doors two and a half years ago, yall have continued to show up. It was hard work remodeling the hair salon of 20 years into what Legacy is today. when we received word that our building would be sold and change hands on May 1st, the wind was removed from our proverbial sails. After many attempts at negotiating a new lease, it was made clear that we will have to relocate.

At first we were super frustrated. Our dream is on the line and all our hard work seemed to be in vain. All of Gresham's commercial rent has increased to new heights these last few years and a move would most certainly require more money to build out a new space to meet our needs.

And yet...our community has pushed us to keep fighting. So here we are asking for help to keep us in town. The move isn't going to cheap, but many hands make light work.

We have found a prospective location!!!

We will need to raise $85,000

Yes, that is a lot of money. But here is what we will use it for:

$12,600 for 1 month of salary coverage for our staff. This helps keep all our employees on payroll and make sure we focus all our efforts on the move and not have to hire or train new people.

$13,500 for 3 months rent. This will help secure a longer timeframe for adjusting to increased costs of rent and NNN.

$3,755 for Health Department License, Inspection and an architect to help us prepare the submitted plans

$3,500 for a larger and more eco-friendly dishwasher.

$30,000 for buildout, painting, new furniture, security system upgrade, network upgrade and moving related expenses.

$10,000 of unexpected maintenance, property damage due to vandalism, loss of revenue and product due to ice storm, and increased electrical bills due to PGE price hike.

$2,865 for GoFundMe processing fees.

If we can secure this funding swiftly, we will be able to move forward with lease negotiation. Once the lease is signed we will begin work to create a beautiful space for our community to enjoy. Our desire is to and hopefully only be closed for a single week.

When we began this journey three years ago, we had this wild idea to create something new. At times we felt alone. Now we are part of something much greater. We are thrilled to be surrounded by a community that has welcomed us and our vision. It is so much greater than we ever could have imagined.
