STORY
My 27-year-old son is getting married on October 30, 2025, in Buffalo, NY . I live in North Carolina , and this wedding is not just a milestone—it’s the first time I will hold my first and only grandson .
My son has overcome many challenges , and with the love of his fiancée , he has built a stable, loving home . He’s now a hardworking father and devoted partner . I am so proud of the man he’s become.
Missing this wedding—and the chance to meet my grandson—would be life-shattering . This is a once-in-a-lifetime moment, and I’m asking for your help to make sure we don’t miss it .
We are in a difficult financial spot . My husband had applied prior to myself, but both of our SSDI claims were just denied. Our savings are gone , medical bills keep rising, and now we no longer have insurance, so life-saving prescriptions are astronomical. I’ve been hospitalized six times in the ICU over the past 14 months due to Graves’ disease complications ⚠️, most severely thyroid storms. Thyroid storms as severe as mine carry a 75% mortality rate. By God’s grace , I survived, and my son’s words—that he needs his mom and sister by his side on his wedding day —keep me fighting .
Our estimated costs for the trip are:
• rental car $480–$555,
• gas ⛽ and tolls ~$275,
• lodging $250–$300,
• clothing for both of us $300–$400,
• wedding gift $500.
The total need is $2,905–$3,100 .
This matters so much ❤️: I’ve endured six ICU stays this year , my husband has congestive heart failure ❤️ and has been hospitalized twice, and the worst part, out of work for over a year. We have no income and no longer have our savings , and our car isn’t safe for the long trip, as there is 376,000 miles on our vehicle. I also need to pick up my daughter in Pittsburgh ️. Sadly, my mother, in the final stage of Alzheimer’s , can no longer host us for lodging . I really will be thankful for a visit with her since it's been almost 2 years since I've seen her, and my stepfather just informed me it’ll be my last.
This isn’t just about attending a wedding —it’s about family unity, hope, and love ❤️. It’s about a mother finally meeting her grandson and supporting her son as he begins his new chapter . Also, to say goodbye to my mother.
****Any contribution—large or small —will help us get on the road safely , cover essentials like lodging , gas ⛽, and clothing , and give our son a heartfelt wedding gift . If you can’t donate, sharing this page with others who understand our situation is just as meaningful.
***Every act of kindness matters ✨. We are humbled, grateful, and holding onto hope . Your support isn’t just financial—it’s emotional, familial, and healing . Thank you for helping us say “I do” alongside our son —and finally embrace the little grandson we’ve waited so long to meet .
With love and gratitude, Jennifer & Jason Woodall
