We are two Asian women running a small Thai restaurant, Bangkok Blvd, in Edmonds, WA. We have always paid our rent and NNN/CAM in full, but we were suddenly charged an additional $700/month for “excessive water usage.”

When we disputed this unfair charge in Small Claims Court, our landlord responded by filing for eviction. We ultimately lost—not because we didn’t pay rent, but because we didn’t have a lawyer to represent us. The court has now ordered us to pay $21,254.68 to the landlord.
