Homeless Cat Crisis - Spaying & Neutering
Donation protected
Hello, my name’s Georgia and I am raising money to help a stray cat colony in my area.
One day, two tiny little black and white kittens turned up at my boyfriend’s Nans back door. Being an animal lover, she took them in and treated them for worms/fleas and fed them up. They were very nervous at first but soon settled into their new home. She booked them both in for spays/neuters but a few weeks before this, the girl disappeared for days and came back pregnant. She had her litter, 2 boys and 1 girl, all black and white just like her. They were all spayed/neutered & microchipped once old enough. This was expensive but she wanted the best life for all her lovely pets.
A while after this, two new cats appeared. These were young black and white females who were terrified of humans. Rescues were contacted to try and find them a safe place to go but they were all full. All she could do was make sure that they are fed until space opens up. Unfortunately, while waiting, one of the girls had a litter of 3 - two longhaired black cats and one tortoise shell. They were born under an old trampoline and we were told the best thing is to leave them be until both Mum and kittens can be rescued. Devastatingly, the two black babies were horrifically killed by a fox, leaving just the tortie by herself. We took her in immediately. She was very sick and we were sure she wouldn’t make it through the night. Thankfully she gained more and more strength every day until she was adopted by my friend. She is now thriving in her new home and her Mum and Aunt are in foster homes waiting for their families.
A few months later, a dainty little black cat appeared. It was clear she was already pregnant. She was very unsure of humans but seemed a little more confident than the previous cats. She soon started venturing into the home and eventually had her babies in the porch - 3 all black kittens. She struggled a lot at first, after all, she was just a baby herself. Again, we contacted every rescue in the area but the same problem was occurring - they were all completely full. The mum had turned into such a lovely little cat and her babies are very sweet and healthy. That being said, we fear massively for their future. My partners Nan just can’t afford to keep fixing all these cats that turn up and no where can help.
As well as this litter, there’s also another litter of 2 from a completely feral cat living in the garden shed. They are sick and completely terrified of humans. We are afraid that they will come into harm with predators, just like the other litter.
The cost of helping all of these cats is huge - estimated around £200 a week. This is a lot of money for someone to keep spending on a retirement pension. Unfortunately, there’s not enough to be able to afford neuters or spays for these sweet cats but without this, they will continue to multiply without a safe place to call home. This is why I have decided to set up this go fund me to reach out to any animal lovers who are willing to spare a few pounds for this cause. There’s currently around 9 cats who need to be fixed.
This is the sad reality of not fixing your cats. All these cats came from a neibour who failed to fix his original cats and we are now desperately trying to help these poor homeless babies
