Help us afford counselling after racial profiling
Donation protected
In August 2021, we, Cameron and Roger, were scholarship receipts of the World Pride 2021 in Copenhagen. On August 20, we went from Copenhagen to Malmö by bus to attend the Refugees, Borders and Immigration Summit as part of the World Pride program. At the Swedish border, we were detained for more than 2 hours on the grounds of insufficient identification, despite showing our EU identification papers that proved that we had been granted legal refugee status in Germany. We believe that the only reason for our detention was our skin color, because we were released without showing any additional identification. It was a clear example of racial profiling.
This situation has marked us and triggered traumatic experiences that we went through throughout our asylum cases. Upon our return to Germany, we needed counselling to process this traumatic experience, which costs 1500€. We ask you to help us afford the counselling service which is important for our mental well-being.
