Help Urumqi walk again! Urumqi fell from a four story building on to concrete and broke both is hind legs upon landing. His fractures are more complicated than normal and will need specialized surgery by a board certified surgeon to recover. His left hind leg is broken into 3 solid pieces and his left hind leg is even in more pieces that link to his joints and is an open wound. The doctor has made recommendation to do primary care on the right leg and an exterior fixator on the left leg. This will give him the best chance of walking, jumping, and acting like a normal kitten again. He will need intensive care of recovery for 12 to 16 weeks at home in a crate with restricted movement. Given his age of just 7 months he has a long life ahead of him that he can sure make good of 2 good legs.

On the day after he was admitted to the veterinary hospital and close to 36 hours without solid food, Urumqi was being fed by the nurse, his canine snagged on to something to either the catheter in his arm or towel and he started trashing in the crate unexpectedly probably due to the pain he was experiencing. Soon after this incident, the nurse noticed a bloody mouth. The hospital did some x-rays and concluded another fracture to his jaw. He likely was trying to get out of the crate by chewing on the wired door and fractured his jaw in the process. The doctor recommends a exterior fixator to fix his jaw but his canines might be damaged and may need to see a dentist at a later date.

Both him and his brother Kashgar originated from a kill-shelter in Merced County and was graciously brought to San Francisco by the SFSPCA, I wanted to keep them together so they can keep each other company and grow up to have sibling companionship.

Your funds will help Urumqi walk and act like a normal kitten again! He has a long way to recovery and will need intensive care but he is a good kitten with a promising future ahead of him.
