Help Uriah Access Gender-Affirming Care
Hey there!
My name's Uriah and I'm a trans woman living in the Bay Area, California. I'm currently a student, and am permanently disabled, so I don't currently have income. Unfortunately, that means I don't have the ability to pay for a lot of my gender-affirming healthcare, especially for the care that I can't get covered by MediCal.
That's why I'm posting here to help me access gender-affirming care. There's many things I've been putting off because I haven't had the financial means, but I'm needing to make headway on them for my own happiness and mental health.
Using money that you and my community helps me raise, I will finally be able to access hair removal treatment, and down the road, perhaps surgeries that will help me feel more happy and content in my day to day. Every dollar you help me raise will get me a step closer to accessing the care I desperately need.
Trans people in America are unfortunately subject to many pressures. Just for myself, being a disabled, unemployed trans woman who isn't currently able to get on disability, this means that I have trouble accessing quite a bit of life-enriching (or even life-saving) care. I, and other trans people, need folks to stand up and help us survive in the current environment where we see a world that rarely values trans excellence and our many contributions to our communities.
These funds will help me access a peace of mind as I try to survive under capitalism and the impacts of transmisogyny, transphobia, cissexism, and misogyny. I've been putting this off for a long time, because I felt for so long like I didn't deserve it, but I know that's not true now. Anything you help me raise will help me so much, it's hard to understate how meaningful and important it would be to me for you to help.
Please, if you can, donate. If you can't donate, share this post! If you can't share this post publicly, perhaps send it to some friends privately! Anything you can do to help me reach my goals and to access this essential medical care would mean the world to me.
Love to my communities, all the trans people of the world, and the folks who show up and do the work to make it safer for the trans people in their lives.
