Brenda and Johns dog Calypso AKA Freshie who is 10 years old, was viciously attacked by their newly adopted dog and is now fighting for her life.

She has numerous issues that include:

Right Forearm has a crushed Ulna and Radius that            will need 3 to 4 surgeries to fix.

Torn muscles and chunks of tissue missing

A tear next to her rectum, although not perforated yet, she is at risk for this.

Possible nerve damage that is affecting her back               legs, they hope that in 2 weeks, this will improve.

Left side wounds that needed surgical repair and             have drains put in.

Left knee capsule was penetrated and all the fluid             drained out, that they have tried to flush out.

Possible signs of hemorrhaging internally due to               low blood count.

She is at risk for infection and organ failure.

She needs more wound repair on her right side,                  but they had to stop the surgery until she is                          stronger.

This does not include just trying to stabilize her, giving her fluids, blood transfusions and pain medications.

Clearly as you can see Calypso is injured and has a long road ahead of her.

The vet costs are already at $11,500 and climbing.  

She has now been transferred to Cornell University  Animal Hospital in Ithaca NY.

Brenda is a nurse and she knows how to evaluate this and truly feels their dog is fighting to live and she wants to honor that and help her fight.

Those who know Brenda and John know they work tirelessly in fostering rescues and have always been great advocates for animals. 

So it is no surprise they have used their nest egg to try and help their girl stay alive. 

But they should not have to go through something like this alone and with no support.

So as their friend, I am reaching out to ask for donations to help ease this financial burden. 

All the animal lovers and advocates out there, let’s show them what this community is all about.
