My name is Leslie, and I’m raising funds to help my 11-year-old and me transfer to a more size-appropriate apartment with lower rent in our current complex. As many of you may know, I became disabled in 2018 and have been too sick to work since then. This, plus a significant reduction in the different types of public and charitable assistance available in the past few years, has made it incredibly difficult to keep up with rising living costs.
We’re fortunate to have this rare opportunity to transfer within our complex from our two-bedroom townhome to a two-bedroom apartment that will be approximately $400 less per month. Not only will it improve our financial situation, but staying within the complex reduces the disruption for all of us, including our two cats. Our move in date is 9/5.
The move comes with several upfront expenses, including first month’s rent, a security deposit*, movers, and cleaners. Covering these costs is difficult on a fixed income, but this move is essential for us to improve our situation and create a more secure future. We are looking forward to having a safe, comfortable space where we can focus on our well-being and build a brighter future together.
Your support means so much to us. Thank you for helping us take this important step and for being part of our journey.

* Unfortunately, our complex does not allow transferring the security deposit on our current unit to the new one. Hopefully, with professional cleaners, we will receive most of our current deposit back in the next few months after we move.
