Hello!

My name is Kim. I am a 47 year old type 2 diabetic and the last couple of years my life has been a medical rollercoaster! I am raising money to buy an Alinker walking trike.

In 2020 in the middle of the pandemic I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It turned out to be agressive genetic and hormonal. I had surgery, followed by 16 months of chemotherapy and 6 weeks of radio therapy.

This left me with a few standard problems.. a bit of tingling in the feet, & surgically, I have lost feeling in my right hand.

Due to various drugs I have to take as part of the post cancer treatment to try and prevent reoccurance (due to the type) I developed problems with my diabeties. This lead to a diabetic keytone acidocis incident, landing me in hospital for over a month, developing autonomic dysfunction as a result. This has affected my brain's fight or flight system so my brain permenently no longer knows what to do!

My heart beats too fast and gets faster when I stand; my blood pressure drops too low (even with medication) for me to stand and walk any great distance independently.

However, if I am sitting there is no problem with my blood pressure! All of my limbs function, I dont want to loose the use of them just because my blood pressure wont let me stand for any useful amount of time before I black out. This means my Oncology Surgeons will not do the 2 further surgeries I need until I am fitter and stronger. Which leaves me in a catch 22...

The Alinker is a sit walk bike that does what it says on the tin and is Happy Yellow. Perfect! Which is why I am here to raise money to buy one.

Help! Release me back into the world! You know you have missed me...
