Hi, my name is Mero, and I’m an Electrical Engineering student doing everything I can to secure my future.
A few months ago, around 2:00 AM, I was driving home after an intense study session at university for a chemistry exam the next morning. It was late night and dark, and the highway was completely empty. Stressed and exhausted, I stayed squarely in my lane, no lane changes, no aggressive driving, just completely focused on the exam awaiting me the next morning. Because there were no other cars around to gauge my speed against, I zoned out and didn't realize how fast I was moving until I saw police lights behind me.
I was pulled over and charged with stunt driving for going 137 km/h in a 90 km/h zone. I’ve uploaded my dashcam footage directly to this page so you can see the drive for yourself, and as you can see in the campaign cover photo, I’ve shared images of all the summonses and tickets I received for full transparency.
I want to be completely honest and open: I take full responsibility for not monitoring my speed. It was a serious lapse in judgment during a high-stress moment. Up until this night, I had a clean driving record and have always been a fully certified, safe driver. I’m just an average student focused on university, bettering myself, and building a solid future.
This single mistake resulted in immediate, crushing penalties: police impounded my car, suspended my license, and hit me with thousands of dollars in fees. To cover these costs, I’ve been working full-time over the summer and juggling two jobs, at McDonald's and in sales-part-time during the school year. But balancing a demanding engineering course load with working multiple jobs has left me with barely any time to focus on my studies.
On top of that, without a vehicle, my daily commute to university now takes 4 hours round-trip by public transit (2 hours each way). Losing 4 hours every single day to bussing, while working and trying to pass engineering, has taken a heavy toll on my academic performance and well-being.
I’m asking for help so I can clear these financial obligations, ease the constant grind between work and school, and get back on track to becoming the engineer I’ve worked so hard to be.
Here is a clear breakdown of where any support will go:
Impound & Towing Fees: ~$1,356
License Reinstatement & Administrative Fees: ~$281
Court Fines: $2,000 minimum fine (pending final decision)
Any contribution, no matter how small, means the world to me and directly helps lift this heavy financial burden off my shoulders so I can focus on my education. If you aren't able to donate, sharing this page is just as valuable.
Thank you so much for your time, understanding, and support.
