Daniel Vincent: Help My Brother from West Africa
My name is Daniel Vincent. 24 year-old airline pilot from the United States. One day, I looked up my full name on Facebook to see who shared my full name, just for fun. Daniel Vincent, ALSO 24 years old and in College---from Sierra Leone, West Africa showed up among the results!!!!
Intrigued, I simply sent the message, "Hey! Daniel Vincent, you have a cool name! You must be a cool dude, too!"
Thus began the beginning of the story of the 2 Daniel Vincents.
Despite being from opposite sides of the earth, extremely different cultural, socio-economic, and geographic backgrounds---we have been friends and penpals for 2 years!
Daniel is an extremely humble, smart, hard-working individual who is completing his final year of his accounting degree at his university in Sierra Leone. He is interested in helping people less fortunate than he in Sierra Leone, and abroad. Hearing him say that is incredible, especially from my perspective as an American in 2021.
We have big plans to get together this year when his visa has been approved by the embassy in SL. The first of which is for Daniel to come to the United States and visit me for 2 weeks staying with me in Salt Lake City, explore American universities to potentially complete a Master's degree here in the US, and witness and experience how Americans work and live.
Daniel comes from a place where infrastructure such as cellular connectivity, health care, and even acquiring clean and safe water can be a challenge. To illustrate this point, Daniel and I had to put our funds together earlier this year to help him fight malaria he contracted from a bad batch of water, which left him in the hospital getting treatment for nearly a week.
My goal is to bring him to the United States for a visit to witness the massive differences in our two societies, and ultimately help him continue his education and be an invaluable resource to his hometown and home country in Africa. He is interested in American business and bringing opportunities he learns about back to his home. And bring me with him!
I believe fate brought us two together to make something big happen! The two Daniel Vincents are determined to get together in person after 2 years of Facebook and Pen-Pal friendship. We need donated funds to finance his first ride in an airplane, his first international trip to the United States, and his visa fees, taxes, and expenses in getting to the United States. The plane ticket alone from Freetown International Airport to Utah is around $2,000, on any given date.
I have been Very* blessed to be able to assist Daniel in his university class fees, books, supplies, and my family and friends even came together to help him finance a computer for his accounting classes. I want to do everything I can, using resources and people I know ------ to help finance Daniel Vincent's life-changing trip to the USA. I cannot afford to help him on my own!
Now that the embassy is processing his documents and application to visit, we need your help to get Daniel Vincent from Sierra Leone to the USA to begin a life-long partnership. Thank you.
I am asking for help, because anyone who is successful knows they needed a helping hand at one point or another.
