Help Uncle Larry Baird Journey Home in Comfort 

 

Aloha, my name is Sage, and I’m the niece of Uncle Larry Baird. I started this GoFundMe because our family needs help covering the high cost of Uncle Larry’s care. Right now, he’s living in a licensed foster home that costs $7,000 a month. While we’re working hard to get everything in order, we simply need more time and support. We don’t want finances to prevent him from receiving the comfort and care he deserves in his final days. 

The truth is, Uncle Larry wasn’t always easy to get along with. He was tough, opinionated, and often led with a sharp edge. But he was also someone who stood firm for what he believed in, and showed up in the way he knew how. 

He moved to Hawai‘i in the 1970s, and from that moment on, it became his home. He made his mark through Softball of Hawai‘i, bringing people together for the love of the game, and later through Island Security, a business to serve and protect local homes and businesses. 

Though he didn’t always express it gently, there were moments that revealed a different side of him. I remember once when a neighbor was struggling to fix a fence; Larry walked over, tools in hand, and told him exactly how to do it. He jumped in, gave orders, and got it done. That was his way direct, intense, but still willing to help when it mattered. 

Now, he’s in a fragile stage of life, and we want to give him something we all hope to receive in the end: peace, dignity, and care. If Uncle Larry ever crossed your path through softball, business, or in the community—and you feel moved to help, we would be deeply grateful. Whether through a donation, a share, or simply a prayer, every bit helps lift the weight and brings us closer to providing him the comfort he needs.
