Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
I’m reaching out today on behalf of my beloved uncle, Jim Foley, who is facing one of the toughest battles of his life—bone cancer—and the overwhelming financial burdens that come with it.
This past March, Uncle Jim underwent shoulder surgery. What was supposed to be the beginning of healing took an unexpected turn. Following the procedure, doctors discovered abnormalities in his blood, which led to a shocking diagnosis: blood cancer, which after further testing, was revealed to be bone cancer.
Thankfully, it's not stage 4, and doctors have given him a hopeful prognosis. Starting next week, he will begin an intense chemotherapy regimen, marking the start of a long and challenging journey toward recovery.
What makes this even more heartbreaking is that in recent years, Uncle Jim had fully committed to a healthier lifestyle—walking daily, eating nutritious foods, and following every medical recommendation to the letter. He was doing everything right. But, as we all know, cancer doesn’t discriminate.
Even before the diagnosis, Uncle Jim had been out of work for most of the past year due to the ongoing shoulder issues that ultimately led to his surgery. Now, with this new diagnosis and the intense treatment ahead, returning to work is impossible for the foreseeable future.
Uncle Jim is the kind of person who never hesitates to give. When a firefighter friend tragically passed away, leaving behind a wife and young children, Jim didn’t think twice. He stepped in and became like a stand-in dad to those kids—supporting them in any way he could.
That's the type of person that Uncle Jim is. He’s always been the first to show up—whether someone needed help moving, a ride to an appointment, or a donation to a cause. His heart, energy, and generosity have touched so many lives. Now, he needs our support.
We’re asking for your help to ease the financial stress Jim is facing—medical bills, living expenses, and basic necessities during his treatment. Every donation, no matter how small, brings him one step closer to healing without the added burden of worrying about keeping the lights on.
If you can’t donate, we completely understand. Please consider sharing this campaign with your friends, family, and community. Every share, every kind word, and every prayer helps more than you know.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting Uncle Jim in this difficult time. Your kindness means everything to him—and to all of us who love him.
With gratitude,
Bernadette
