We share this fundraiser in an effort to raise financial relief and support for our Uncle Doug. Despite his dissabilities, Uncle Doug worked a FT job his entire adult life and recently retired during COVID. He spends all of his time at home and for fun enjoys walking around Englishtown Auction; something he has done since he was kid with his parents.

Recently his home in Monroe, Township, NJ was devasted by Hurricane Henri on Sunday, August 22nd, 2021. Our Uncle Doug has been evacuated from his home and is fortunate enough to have his sister, Donna Makris to stay with while our family works on rebuilding his home themselves.

The home was not zoned a flood zone and therefore did not have or require flood insurance. *Update* Due to no coverage, we are raising money to cover some of the necessary structural restorations, repairs, and furnishings. All of his household items have been disposed of. His clothing needs have been met, thank you to our community for covering that for him so quickly! And temporary housing needs are covered by his sister and her husband, right now; fortunately.

Due to the floodwaters of Hurricane Henri, our Uncle Doug has lost nearly all of his personal belongings including furniture, household items, clothing as well as irreplaceable family treasures. The home itself was uninsured for flooding and has put him at a loss of $250k in home value w/o proper restoration.

As a small family, we are asking for your urgent support. Please consider contributing at whatever level you are able to give. Every dollar will help Uncle Doug get back to independent living as soon as possible. The road to recovery from any traumatic event is never a short one, but everyone is taking steps and trying to still enjoy life in the process.
