Help My Sweet Umi Fight Cancer and Find Comfort
Hi, my name is Sahar, and I’m writing this with a heart that’s breaking more every day.
My cat Umi—only 3 years old—has been diagnosed with carcinomatosis, a rare and aggressive cancer that has tumors spread to her pancreas, liver, and spleen. It’s also causing painful fluid buildup in her abdomen, lungs, and around her heart, making it hard for her to breathe, eat, or rest comfortably. Her belly is swollen from the fluid, but the rest of her tiny body has grown so thin. She mostly sleeps now, no longer able to do the things she once loved.
Just a few weeks ago, she was perfectly fine—running around, chasing her toys, playing catch with me, and following me everywhere like my little shadow. She was full of life and joy. Then almost overnight, something changed. She got quiet. She stopped playing. Her belly looked different. I knew something was wrong, but I never imagined it would be this.
Umi is everything to me. She’s not “just a cat”—she is my heart, my comfort, my home. She’s been by my side through everything, always knowing when I needed her. She follows me everywhere. If I close the bathroom door, she paws under it until I let her in. When I come home, she’s always at the door waiting for me, purring the moment I touch her. She’s the gentlest soul I’ve ever known, and everyone who meets her says the same: “She’s so special.”
She’s also incredibly bonded with her sister, Yuki. They used to cuddle together, chase each other through the house, and share everything. Now, everything feels quiet and different.
I’ve taken time off work to be with Umi full-time—I can’t leave her side. But between the emergency vet visits, procedures, medications, and ongoing care, I’m struggling to keep up financially. I’ve done everything I can, and now I need help.
This fundraiser isn’t about curing her—I know I can’t. It’s about giving her more time. Even just a little. Time where she’s not in pain. Time where she’s warm, comfortable, and surrounded by love. I want to give her the peace and dignity she deserves in whatever time we have left.

What Your Support Will Help With:
• Emergency and specialist care
• Medications for pain, nausea, and breathing
• Fluid drainage procedures for her abdomen and chest
• At-home hospice care to keep her comfortable
• Chemotherapy (if she’s strong enough): oral or intracavitary options to slow the cancer and reduce fluid buildup
• Supplies to help her rest, eat, and feel safe
Any donation—big or small—helps us more than I can say. And if you can’t donate, simply sharing Umi’s story means the world.
Thank you for helping me hold onto the sweetest soul I’ve ever known, just a little longer.
With all my love,
Sahar & Umi
