Help Ulises' Family Navigate This Devastating Time

On February 21, 2025, ICE violently and unlawfully arrested Ulises, leading to his emergency hospitalization. Despite asserting his legal rights—to remain silent, to speak with a lawyer, and to stay in his vehicle unless presented with a warrant—ICE officers responded with brutality. They smashed his car window with a baton, dragged him out of his vehicle, and physically assaulted him.

Ulises, who suffers from serious medical conditions—including a blood clot in his neck, a heart condition, a spinal disorder, and knee injuries—collapsed due to the trauma and struggled to breathe. Paramedics rushed him to the emergency room, where he remained shackled to his hospital bed, denied food, water, and access to his medications. ICE also repeatedly blocked and denied him from speaking confidentially with his attorney.

Rather than releasing him on humanitarian grounds, ICE continued to strip him of his rights and dignity. Instead of letting Ulises recover at home with his family, ICE removed Ulises from the hospital under cover of darkness, right after his family had left for the night. ICE took Ulises into a far-away detention facility, without notifying his wife or his attorney and while ignoring his severe medical needs.
